CLASS DESCRIPTIONS • 2008-09

GENTLE -includes simple stretches, breathing and restorative poses, as well as gentle movements to increase range of motion of the major joints It is an ideal class for any level of student experiencing chronic symptoms such as muscle or joint pain, stiffness, weakness or fatigue. Whether your needs are temporary or long-term, this class offers a gentler approach to hatha yoga.
LEVEL 1/INTRODUCTION TO YOGA - is the perfect way to begin your yoga practice, with a solid foundation! This class is ideal for all those brand new to yoga or coming back to yoga after a long sabbatical. In a safe and supportive environment you will learn about the breath, the Universal Principles and the 3 A's in all of hte basic standing poses, hip openers, forward bends, and twists.
LEVEL 2/EXPERIENCED BEGINNERS - is a continuation of Level 1. The emphasis is on building confidence, strength and endurance in all Level 1 poses. Preparation poses for arm balances, inversions and simple backbends will be incorporated.

LEVEL 3/INTERMEDIATE - is the perfect class for students who are ready to fine tune and develop more awareness in all of the basic poses and to explore more challenging poses in all of the categories (standing, sitting, inverting, arm balancing, and backbending).

LEVEL 4/EXPERIENCED INTERMEDIATE - is for students who can kick up unassisted into handstand at the wall, capable of holding headstand and shoulderstand for 5 minutes and push up into back bend in the center of the room.
